Christopher Havens is a veteran real estate professional focusing exclusively on commercial office leasing, tenant representation and new office development for TerraCRG.

Prior to TerraCRG, Havens was the first Director of Commercial Real Estate for aptsandlofts.com, which was acquired by Citi Habitats in October 2015.

Specializing in the Brooklyn marketplace, Chris represents numerous properties that include 1000 Dean Street, a multi-purpose, new media and creative office building in Crown Heights, 794 Union Street, 619 Throop, 83 Coffey, a 77,000sf ground-up building, a 150,000sf gut rehab. He consulted on pre-development for 25 Kent Avenue. Active in tenant representation as well, Chris and his team lease space throughout Brooklyn, serving such prominent clients as Toll Brothers NY, Gothamist, DATALOT, Weems & Kozek, Stink Digital and the Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center.

From 1998 to 2002, Chris worked with Insignia/ESG, specializing in office leasing in Downtown Brooklyn and Western Queens, and the conversion of industrial properties to office space. He has since been involved in the conversion or re-positioning of 11 buildings, totaling over 4 million square feet. In 2002, he joined Two Trees Management Co. in DUMBO as Director of Leasing for their 1.2 million square foot portfolio, creating their marketing and leasing office as co-creator of the first Brooklyn loft office market. He is now a leading broker working the area on the tenant side.

Chris founded the Creative Real Estate Group in 2007 to market and lease creative work space in emerging Brooklyn markets. A consultant to Industry City Associates, then the largest owner of multi-story vintage warehouse properties in the USA, he designed their artist and office workspace leasing program. He was co-agent with CBRE for SL Green’s 16 Court Street and GFI Development’s 470 Vanderbilt Avenue, leasing 183,013 RSF in 54 leases and 532,000 RSF in three leases at 16 Court and 470 Vanderbilt, respectively. CREG also represented 32 Court Street, the premier prewar boutique office property in Brooklyn, raising the occupancy rate from 80% to 95% during his term there.

In addition, Chris managed in-place and gut rehab projects for NYC – HPD and BEC New Communities in the 1980’s, helping complete 1000 units of affordable housing in Crown Heights, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Prospect Heights. He holds a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from Hunter College and a B.A. from Macalester College. Chris is a Trustee of the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, a founding member of the Brooklyn Historical Society’s Real Estate Roundtable, a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, a member of the Advisory Board to The West Indian-American Day Carnival Association, a Board Member of The Franklin Furnace, and a member of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. Chris and his family live in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.
